Fetal MRI

Although ultrasound still remains the gold standard in diagnosing fetal abnormalities, fetal MRI is becoming a complementary investigation to assist in the counselling and postnatal management of fetal abnormalities. There is increasing clinical evidence to suggest that fetal MRI can provide crucial and additional information, particularly in complex brain malformations to support parents in antenatal and postnatal management.

Fetal MRI can be performed at any gestation although it is best avoided performing at first trimester. 

Interpreting Fetal MRI requires expertise and a good understanding of the process of brain development in utero. We are able to provide this specialised service according to the clinical needs.
